Rino, and the Borromei family, have a long history with Kalgoorlie- Boulder and the Goldfields. His mother immigrated to Kalgoorlie from Italy with her parents, as a young child, where they lived on a 100 acre market garden, located where the suburb of Somerville is now located! The street ‘Borromei Mews’ is a tribute to the service his family provided to the region by being the sole providers of fruit and veg in the city!
Rino was 1 of 9 children , and his mother still resides in Kalgoorlie with a (somewhat smaller) garden, and still loves to provide the John Matthew and Sons office with fresh fruit and veggies, and on Rinos birthday, the best lasagne you will ever eat!
Although Rino completed hi trade certificate in Boilermaking, Rino went into the family fruit and veg business. This lasted for 14 years, until the real estate bug bit him, after completing the subdivision on the familys market garden.
Starting as a sales consultant at Brown James and Associates, Rino worked his way up to Business Development Manager within a few years. After the closure of Brown James, Rino worked for another locally owned and operated agency, Goldfields Realty.
In 2002, Rino had had enough of making money for some one else, and decided to go into business for himself. He opened Roy Weston/Borromei Willis with friend and accountant Dean Willis, were the primary focus of the agency was selling properties. During this time, Rino won many awards, including being among the top 20 Sales People in a group that had over 170 offices across Australasia.
In 2007, Rino opened a settlement agency, Borromei Willis Settlements, which still operates very successfully today.
At the end of 2008, Rino decided he needed a break from Real Estate and closed his agency, and took 2 and a half years off to spend time with his family, and fuel his other passion, prospecting.
However, just like the mafia in ‘The Godfather’….”Just when I thought I was out, they pull me back in!” The lure of Real Estate was too much for Rino, and he joined the team at John Matthew and Sons in 2011, and in some kind of record, has bought a packed lunch to work to eat at 11am every day since.
Rino is married to Teresa and has 3 children, all who are involved in many different sporting clubs and committees across the Goldfields.
Since the age of 12, Rino has raced cycles, done martial arts and running. He still rides and goes to the gym three days a week, however he points out that he absolutely does not do any teams sports, as working with the team at John Matthew and Sons is enough for him!
